Where Have I Been?

Wow, it’s been 5 months since I last wrote anything. I have no idea where that times gone but most of it wasn’t good so I just want to leave it in the past. In brief, my head went to a bad place, my left knee doesn’t want to play properly, the marathon didn’t happen and I’ve regained just over a stone in weight. Moving on……

A few weeks ago I ran the Market Drayton 10k which is always an awesome race. Considering the bad knee, I finished in a respectable 00:50:08. Now I know that running with a bad knee is not a good idea, but have you ever tried telling a runner not to run? It’s like putting a big bowl of sweets in front of a child and asking them not to eat any. The strange thing is, I had no pain at all during this run. Even the huge hill at the end caused me no issues. Speaking of which, I’ve moaned to my wife for a long time now that no matter where I run around our area, I’m always going up hill. Well, it held me in good stead for that last one here. I must have passed 20 other runners on my way to the top which was very satisfying. I’ll never moan about running hills again and I’ve already entered this race for next year.

So that leads me to now. I’ve had a long hard look at what I need to do to get back on track. Right now, food is on point and gym work has resumed and is going well. Running is another matter. I’ve scaled right down and I’m in the process of working my miles back up. Sunday I ran 6 and had a small amount of discomfort but since then I’ve run a 4 and a 5 without any issues. I’m planning on trying 7 this Sunday and increasing again next week unless the pain returns. If this is the case then I think I might stick to 6 miles or less for the foreseeable future. Only time will tell what’s gong to happen. I also want to get back to this blog. It keeps me sane and helps me focus on what I’ve done and where I’m going. I’m going to do my best to write at least once per week from now on.
